Ask Eklo, the AI assistant for church staff.
Ask Eklo is the AI assistant built into Eklo. It answers from your church’s workspace, and searches the web for what Eklo doesn’t hold. It can add and change tasks, post messages and send requests for you. It only sees what you can see, and it asks before doing anything that tells someone else.
Built in, on every plan
Ask Eklo isn’t a separate product or a separate subscription. It comes with every plan, inside the workspace where your requests, tasks and chat already are.
What it can do
Ask in plain words. Each step it takes, like searching tasks, shows as it runs.
Find tasks and projects
“What’s still open in the Easter Sunday project?” It looks in the projects you can open, by project, status, assignee or due date.
Your week
“What’s overdue for me?” It lists your open tasks that are overdue or due soon.
Add and change tasks
“Ask Sam to order lilies for Easter Sunday, due April 1.” It can add a task with subtasks, or change a task’s title, description, status, priority, due date or assignee.
Search chat
“What did we decide about parking?” It searches messages in the channels you can read.
What’s waiting on you
“What’s waiting on me?” It lists the requests waiting on your decision, by form and reference, with who sent each, and can approve or decline one once you Confirm. The card shows you the request’s answers first.
People and teams
“Who’s on the worship team?” It finds people by name, email, title or team, and can create a team or add people to one if your role allows it.
Dates and the church year
“When is Pentecost next year?” It counts days, weeks and months, and knows Easter, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Pentecost and the Advent Sundays.
Post and send for you
“Post the rehearsal time in the worship channel.” It can post a message in a channel, comment on a task, start a channel, or fill in and send a request, as long as the form doesn’t need a file. Each waits for you to Confirm, and goes out under your name.
Build forms
“Make a sign-up form for the fall retreat.” It can create a form with its questions and who approves it, or change a form you can edit. Each waits for you to Confirm.
The web and your files
“What’s this year’s IRS mileage rate?” It can search the web and read pages, and lists the ones it used under its answer. It can also read files you attach, like a PDF, a Word or Excel file (.docx or .xlsx), a CSV or an image (PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP), up to 5 with each message.
Images, memory and reminders
“Make a banner for the fall picnic.” It can make an image, kept for 90 days in that conversation, and remember up to 20 things you ask it to, like the team you lead. Both wait for you to Confirm. It can also remind you of something later, with a notification and an email.
What it can’t do
It can’t read or send direct messages, or read the answers on requests or files shared in chat or on tasks. It can’t delete or archive tasks, messages, channels, forms or teams, remove people from a team or change anyone’s role.
What it can see
Ask Eklo works with your access. It never sees more than you can.
Only what you can see
The people in your workspace, the teams you can see, tasks in projects you can open, messages in channels you can read, the forms you can see and your own requests. When you click Summarise on a channel, thread or task, it reads that one too.
Not direct messages
It doesn’t read direct messages.
Not the answers on requests
It lists your requests and those waiting on your decision without their answers, and sees an answer only where a workflow copied it into a task or chat post you can open. When it asks you to Confirm approving or declining one, the card shows you the request’s answers, but Ask Eklo itself never sees them.
Sent to our AI providers
Your question, what Ask Eklo finds, files you attach, the things you’ve asked it to remember, and any channel, thread or task you clicked Summarise on go to Anthropic’s Claude, which also runs its web searches. To make an image, the description shown on its card goes to OpenAI, also our backup for answers. Both are listed as subprocessors.
Your conversations
Only you can see your conversations with Ask Eklo, and its answers carry the “e.” mark. Delete one for good, with its files and images, while AI features are on in your church; while they’re off, an owner or admin can turn them back on, or you can email privacy@eklo.io. Leaving your church deletes yours there, and when you ask it to forget something, every exact copy of its words is replaced in the conversation where it was saved or forgotten; anything said in other words stays until you delete that conversation. Messages, comments and requests it sends for you go out under your name, without the mark.
Take a copy
Download your conversations, the files you attached, the images it made, what it remembers and your reminders as one ZIP from Settings → Profile. Only you can download it.
Not for guests
Guests, the outside collaborators you add to a project, don’t have Ask Eklo.
Confirm and Undo
Ask Eklo asks before doing anything that tells someone else or changes someone else’s task. Most other changes happen straight away, with Undo. Once you attach a file or it uses the web, every change in that conversation waits for Confirm.
Confirm
Anything that tells someone else waits on a card that shows what will happen and who will be told: posting a message or comment, giving a task to someone else or taking one away, creating a channel, team or form, changing a form, adding people to a team, sending a request, and approving or declining one. A change to someone else’s task, such as marking it done, waits on a card too, naming whose it is; they aren’t told unless it’s given to them or taken from them. Saving something to remember and making an image wait on a card too. Nothing happens until you click Confirm.
Undo
Adding a task for yourself, or changing the title, description, status, priority or due date of a task of yours, happens straight away with Undo under the answer. A task is yours when it’s assigned to you, or when no one has it and you created it. Undo isn’t offered when you come back to the conversation later.
Checked again
When you click Confirm, Ask Eklo checks again that it can still do it, like whether the person can still open the project.
Cards expire
A card left for a day expires, and nothing is done.
An off switch for the whole church
Owners and admins can turn AI off in Settings → General.
Hidden for everyone
Switching off Allow AI features hides Ask Eklo for everyone in the workspace.
Stops sending to AI
It also stops the workspace’s content being sent to an AI provider. An answer already being written when you switch it off can still finish.
Back on any time
Switch it back on the same way. Switching it off deletes nothing, so past conversations are still there. AI features are on for new workspaces.
A monthly AI budget
Each plan includes a monthly budget for what Ask Eklo costs to run. Everyone’s questions count toward it.
- Starter
- $5 a month
- Standard
- $30 a month
- Multi-Site
- $100 a month
- Enterprise
- set to your church
Notices before it runs out
Ask Eklo shows a notice at 80% of the budget. At 100%, web search, making images and reading attached files pause, and everything else keeps working.
Then it pauses
A little past the budget, Ask Eklo pauses until the 1st of the month, in your workspace’s time zone.
See what’s used
Owners and admins see how much of the budget is used in Settings → Usage.
More when you need it
On Standard, Multi-Site and Enterprise, more AI budget comes in $20 packs.
Questions
What is Ask Eklo?
Ask Eklo is the AI assistant built into Eklo. It answers from your church’s workspace, and searches the web for what Eklo doesn’t hold. It can add and change tasks, post messages and send requests for you. It only sees what you can see, and it asks before doing anything that tells someone else.
What can Ask Eklo see?
Only what the person asking can see: the people in your workspace, the teams they can see, tasks in projects they can open, messages in channels they can read, the forms they can see, and their own requests and those waiting on their decision, listed without their answers. It can also search the web and read files they attach. It doesn’t read direct messages.
Does Ask Eklo act without asking?
Not when it would tell someone else or change their work. Posting a message or comment, changing someone else’s task, giving a task to someone else or taking one away, creating a channel, team or form, changing a form, adding people to a team, sending a request, and approving or declining one all wait for you to click Confirm, and so do saving something to remember and making an image. Other changes, like adding a task for yourself or moving the due date on one of your own tasks, happen straight away, with Undo. Once you attach a file or it uses the web, every change in that conversation waits for Confirm.
Can we turn AI off?
Yes. Owners and admins switch off Allow AI features in Settings → General. That hides Ask Eklo for everyone and stops the workspace’s content being sent to an AI provider, though an answer already being written can finish. Switching it off deletes nothing.
How much AI does each plan include?
Starter: $5 a month. Standard: $30 a month. Multi-Site: $100 a month. Enterprise: set to your church. A little past the budget, Ask Eklo pauses until the 1st of the month. On Standard, Multi-Site and Enterprise, more AI budget comes in $20 packs.
Which AI does Ask Eklo use?
Anthropic’s Claude writes its answers and runs its web searches. OpenAI makes its images, and is a backup we may switch answers to. Both are listed on our subprocessors page.
