Chat

Team chat for church staff.

Eklo Chat is where church staff talk: channels for ministries and events, a channel for every team, threads and direct messages. Share a task or a request into any conversation, so everyone is looking at the same thing.

Replaces Slack

Replaces Slack

Slack is built for any company. Eklo Chat sits next to your church’s projects and requests, so a conversation can point at the real task or request instead of a screenshot. Slack Pro lists at $8.75 per person a month (October 2026). Eklo is one flat price per church, with Tasks and Forms included.

Channels

Topic channels are open to the whole workspace: a sermon series, an event, a ministry.

Anyone can start one

Everyone in the workspace except guests can create a channel, and everyone can read it.

Announcement channels

Let only admins post, and everyone else read.

Mute what’s noisy

Mute a channel or a direct message. You’re still told when someone @mentions you.

Archive when it’s over

Archive a channel to take it out of everyone’s sidebar. Its messages stay.

Team channels

Every team gets its own channel automatically.

For the team

A team’s members can read its channel, and so can the workspace’s owners and admins.

Who can post

A team’s admins choose whether anyone on the team can post, or only the team’s admins.

Private groups

For a private group, create a private team. Its channel comes with it.

Follows the team

Rename the team and its channel takes the new name. Archive the team and its channel is archived too.

Threads, mentions and files

Keep side conversations out of the channel, and bring in the right people.

Threads

Reply to a message in a thread. You hear about new replies in threads you started or replied in, one notification per thread.

@mentions and reactions

Mention someone to notify them, and react to any message with an emoji.

Photos and files

Attach up to 10 photos, PDFs or Office files to a message, up to 25 MB each.

Jump anywhere

Press ⌘K to jump to any channel, person, project or form.

Direct messages

One-to-one conversations, private to the two people in them.

Private

Workspace owners and admins can’t read direct messages, and they aren’t included in a workspace export.

Start from anywhere

Click someone’s name on a message, a task or a team page, then Send a message.

Guests

Guests can message the people they share a project with. They don’t see channels.

Share a task or a request

Point a conversation at the real thing.

Cards that stay current

A shared task shows its status, project, due date and assignee as they are now, not as they were when you shared it.

Requests too

Share a request that’s waiting on approval or decided. The card shows its form, reference, who sent it and where it stands. The answers stay behind the link.

Only for people who can open it

Anyone who can’t open the task or request sees a private card with none of its details.

From a form’s workflow

A form’s workflow can post a message to a channel when a request comes in.

Questions

What is Eklo Chat?

Eklo Chat is where church staff talk: channels for ministries and events, a channel for every team, threads and direct messages. Share a task or a request into any conversation, so everyone is looking at the same thing.

Can workspace admins read direct messages?

No. Direct messages are private to the two people in them. Owners and admins can’t read them, and they aren’t included in a workspace export.

Can we have private channels?

Topic channels are open to the whole workspace. For a private group, create a private team: its channel is for the team’s members, and the workspace’s owners and admins can read it too.

Can I share a task or a request into chat?

Yes. Share it into a channel or a direct message. The card shows where it stands now, and people who can’t open it see a private card.

Does Eklo replace Slack?

For church staff, yes. Eklo Chat has channels, team channels, threads and direct messages, next to your tasks and requests, at one flat price per church that also covers Tasks and Forms.
